This morning, my shoulder was still painful, but not as bad as yesterday. I went to Tesco and bought some Deep Heat spray (thanks for the advice, Jackson!). My dad used to use Deep Heat for his muscular pains when I was a kid. It seems to work, but I do now smell like my dad. It's slightly weird.
I also tried to buy four packs of ibuprofen whilst in Tesco, as not only do I have a bad shoulder, but my wife is also suffering with a bad back. However, the self-service till blocked me and called an assistant (I thought I was in 'I, Robot' for a moment), and I was told that apparently it's the law that you can only buy two packs of painkillers at a time now, in case of suicide. I pointed out that I could, of course, just come back in in a couple of minutes and buy another two packs. I also asked if I looked like I was about to top myself, given that I was also packing Deep Heat and Pain au Chocolat. But the teenage manager, who had by now materialised as well (maybe in case I tried to throw myself under a passing trolley) explained that the law is the law. Yes, thanks for that.
But on the way out, the assistant whispered to me to grab the other two packs of ibuprofen and she'd put them through for me. So, gratefully, I did - but I couldn't quite figure out if she was just being nice, or if she hadn't appreciated my sarcasm so was trying to assist me in my suicide attempt.
I decided to continue to rest my upper body at the gym today. So I didn't do my usual Saturday legs workout this morning - as I've incorporated bar bell squats into this workout since a couple of weeks ago (big boy exercises!) which can put pressure on the shoulder/back area. So I did 30 minutes on the cross trainer again, and tomorrow I'm hoping to be fit enough to do yesterday's back workout and today's leg workout together, rather than my usual Sunday cardio-only session. Anyway, they say that variety is the spice of life!
My diet today has consisted of:
- Breakfast: Scrambled egg and a grilled tomato on a piece of toast (The Pain au Chocolat I bought in Tesco this morning were for the family, I should point out, not me!)
- Lunch: A mackerel salad;
- Dinner: Salmon and vegetables, cooked by my good lady wife. Yum!
Tomorrow: my penultimate weigh-in!
